The Lake Nakuru National Park is situated about 160 km northwest of the capital Nairobi at Lake Nakuru. This national park is famous especially for its flamingo population. Here you can also marvel at other mammals such as antelopes, waterbucks, monkeys, buffaloes, and giraffes. The park is also a protected area for rhinos, featuring a population of more than 60 black and white rhinos. As part of the Rift Valley lake group, which boasts some of the most historical and deepest lakes that exist on the planet, Lake Nakuru is often home to ecological diversity and is protected by Lake Nakuru National Park. Bird lovers’ paradise! Lake Elementaita is a small soda ash lake 18 sqm in size and is located on the eastern side of the Great Rift Valley, with much of it being part of the private Soysambu Conservancy. Although situated on private land it can be visited and is often home to great white pelicans, great crested grebe, and is an important stopover for over 350 migratory bird species. You can also witness giraffes, zebra, gazelle, eland, and families of warthog.
